Sordid City Blues is on indefinite hiatus so that I can focus on family life. I'll most likely return to it when my daughter is older, at least to wrap things up. I'll also be working on some less deadline-driven projects offline; anything relating to those will be announced here. Thank you all for your readership. -- Charles Schneeflock Snow |

What is Sordid City Blues? Sordid City Blues is a comic book about real life. It focuses mainly on conflicts based on spirituality, morality, and purpose, rather than on matters of life and death. The characters are ordinary people -- young people living in the city, because that was what I was when I started work on it many years ago. The story draws heavily from my life and experiences, but is not really autobiographical. I've never met a true story that couldn't be improved by a fistful of carefully chosen lies. It is a finite project -- it will come to an end at some point. Exactly when that will be depends on when you ask me, but I suspect that it is a good ways down the road. When Does it Update? On Monday, usually. These pages take a long time to draw, and sometimes I have other opportunities I need to work on. So sometimes, I miss updates. But I usually put up at least three pages a month. If you want to be notified of updates, subscribe to the RSS feed or join the LJ Community. What's Up With All the Christianity? There won't be an altar call, if that's what you're worried about. I've spent a lot of time wrestling with God and my faith, so that tends to come out in the comic. I've also been an atheist (it didn't work for me), so some other characters are atheists. I've occasionally considered introducing characters of other religions, but since I don't have an inside perspective on them, I don't really feel comfortable doing that. I don't view the comic as a personal soapbox -- I have bigger fish to fry, and anyway, I don't think I'm all that wise -- so none of the characters believe exactly what I do, though Yoshimi comes close, sometimes. |
